hello mate,
i saw in a recent thread about your Vampirella figure that you mentioned something called Mr Surfacer...what is it and what do you use it for and where did you get it?

hey, its basically a thinned putty but Lacquer based. It can be used as putty to fill pin holes and such. I also use it to create a surface on my tanks and such. It becomes tacky after a few seconds of application and I quickly apply a second coat to get the rough surface. Heres a good explination on its uses. I get mine at the local hobby shop, but Im not sure where you can get it. Its made by Gunze , so usually anyone who carries the Gunze Paints and such. www.californiamodelworkshop.org/tutorials/surfacer/surfacer.htm

no problem...by the way, if you do find a place there to get it, try and get the thinner too. Ive got MMs Laquer thinner , but it doesnt work as good as the Gunze stuff does on this. I think its Thinner 50

This is where I got my Mr.Dissolved Putty from. works great. (check under the Putty section on the left) (granted its a bit different than the actual surfacer but this does smooth out stuff nicely too) This is also the site I picked up my current sculpting medium- New Fando paper clay. though looking at it they may be out of the "New Fando" specifically. its a maroonish package. they have similar types in the Fando brand though. Mr.Clay is similar with slightly different properties. it's a bit lighter weight and softer than the New Fando. the main problem i found with this site was the shipping. i paid more for shipping than the 5 packs of fando, 1 small pack of Tamiya smooth, and 2 small bottles of liquid mask than i did for the stuff itself. if youre just looking to order the dissolved putty though shipping shouldnt be too bad. that stuff is fairly lightweight. unfortunately they dont give you a shipping quote right away when you place your order since they do everything by weight by the order. it might be possible to email them and see if they can get you an estimate. www.1999.co.jp/eng/paint/this site also carries a bunch of dirrerent supplies. its a US based company plajapan.com/index.php?cPath=24&sort=4d&page=2

Ive got that stuff too. I didnt really care for it as much as I do the Mr Surfacer. and the fumes from the Dissolved putty....fweeeww, It instantly gave me a headache upon opening it.
