Hi, everyone, my name is Randy, I am new to this forum and resin kits period, I am currently working on Robyn Hood, a very nice female kit, but man, it took 12 hours of sanding and prepping, its not a recast, probadly just an average casting, it comes with white metal pieces also, since all the body work is done, I am enjoying the painting, I have been doing styrene figures for 40 years, I wanted more of a challenge, so I am dabbling in some resin kits, I also have the princess pirate comming in mail and may get the car hop chick, Robyn hood came out around 1997, , are the castings much better in 2005-2006? welcome too the site buzzconroy, as for resin kits it can be a bit hit and miss out there but generally speaking the Solarwinds figures are amazing with very little clean up at all, this is probably one of the reasons they are so popular !
generally speaking this is garage hobby where alot of the kits are produced by joe public and so their resources are limited which explains the variety in quality when it comes too seams and airbubbles. trust me, i've bought a few turkeys in my time as well as recasts so i know about pinhole airbubbles and the like.
the more recent the cast the better the chances of their being a high quality kit where some of the seamlines are hidden when you assemble the kit. If you look back 10 years of regular kits especially military stuff you can see the changes but at the end of the day you get what you pay for ( well most of the time).
as for Robyn hood... i can't wait too see her!

Thanks for the welcome, I will post pics of Robyn hood when it is completed. BTW I was talking to Solarwinds 2 weeks ago, very polite and helpful ,I am ordeing, Karstein on throne shortly, I was impressed with his assortment of female kits. Who else can you recomened for quality female resin kits, btw I am from Canada. So far I have met alot of friendly modellers from USA and Uk, everyone has been a great help to me, just wanna say thanks to all. Buzz

If you want, you can post some pictures of her as she is in the "Ongoing Projects " section if you like.
as for female figure kits, well that's personal choice and it depends what type fo figures you are interested in such as the Vampire type of thing like Countess Karnstein or something more action packed like Lara Croft.
It also depends on what scale you are happy with as well as the actual monetary cost of the kits, the bigge they are the more they cost... Pegaso do quite a lot of Adult figures which might suit, depending on your taste.
then of course there are white metal and vynal kits to consider as well, so as you can see there is quite a wide variet out there

Welcome aboard Buzz. Another thing that influences the quality of the casting is its number in the molding process. First castings are generally better than later ones. The molds tend to deteriorate over time.
