hey everybody, In one of my recent trades I made on the AFM website forum I traded some figures to another member. One of the kits I received, Vampricia, was a recast. He claims its an original, but looking at the recasts sold on ebay its an exact match! even the photo that comes with it. I emailed the guy and basically received a reall attitude from him, fowl language and all. anyway, heres my delima. Im now out a good bit of money, and he wont do anything about it. What would you do with this kit? sell it as is? build it? throw it away? This is why I like to stick with ebay, at least I have some recourse there. any suggestions?

Figurator, Sorry to hear it, whatever happened to honor I can imagine what you'd like to do and where that recast should be stored ;D Put it on ebay with an honest description is a good route to recoup some of your money. You can put it away till (if ever) you think you have the time an drive to rework it into a masterpiece. At least it's a starting point. For now, I'm keeping my vampi in the hope that as I gain skill, I can do something with it (that is unless the wife puts it on ebay )

Ouch that sucks Figurator.
Well first off i'd lodge an official complaint with ebay... not sure how far that will get you but you can try.
i guess you could sell it on or use it as a practise piece, something to experiment on with a new technique rather than throwing it away.
that's my thoughts anyway...oh and i'ms ending you a PM about this figure

I don't spend much time on that forum at all however, they seem to be real "anti-recasts" as a group. I would put the word out to the forum. I believe there have been some previous threads dealing with these individuals.
Now as to the model. Is it build-able? I mean can it be done without extreme fill, a zillion air bubbles, etc? If so, yeah he screwed you, but you may be able to make a fine piece out of it. God knows it is not just the re-casts that suck.
I have a Fat Man Productions model with Vampi on the skull. Arms, legs, face just eaten up with holes. No collar pieces included. I got this from Dave Cahill at Fat Man. His attitude was just like the response you got. I take it out now and then and plug away at it because it can be a nice piece.
My 2 cents worth or for the Empire my 2 pence worth. LOL.
Good luck, ;D Dave Hall

That was my first trade with anyone, unfortunatley it was a bad one. Im probably out at least $200 . It wasnt a bad cast, other than her face it was actually a good recast. though Ive never seen the original so I dont know how the face was to begin with. It could easliy be fixed though. I have it on ebay now though for cheap. Ive had a few Fatman kits too with that same problem.

Figurator, I saw it as well on ebay, how bad is the face? From the pic, it doesn't look that bad.
