Hey guy, Unfortunately "good" and "source" in this case are pretty much mutually exclusive terms. I have found some original are being imported but the selection is poor. Most of the e-Bay stuff is crap although using the "anime" search under the "models and kits" section has on occasion resulted in some very nice originals. I have ordered a few from Japan at Hobby Link Japan www.hlj.com/. The owner is an American I think. All is subject to the Yen rate and of course postage. That is where I got 3 of my Sorayama when they were virtually unavailable in the U.S. Lastly, send an e-mail to Cody Kwok codyscoop.com/ at Cody's Coop. He is one of the most prolific builders of female/anime kits I know and a real nice guy. He helped me find a couple of models in Japan from guys that understood enough English to get the transaction done. Sorry I can't be of more help. The only other answer is Hobby Fan www.hobbyfan.com/. Yes they are recasts, I believe, but the quality is super. They come from the Hong Kong gang. DISCLAIMER: No I don't support recasting, just outlining all the options I know. Dave ;D

this is usually a hard one since there isn't a ton of interest for anime kits in the US. If you don't mind using a deputy service or can read japanes you can always check out Yahoo! Japan. You can get some of the newest released kits this way. I enjoy just browsing to see whats out there as well. Here's a brief write-up about how to use deputy services. gkjapan.com/showthread.php?t=31otherwise theres a few shops where you can import anime gk's or supplies. gkjapan.com/showthread.php?t=33and then theres GKJ's source for kits. Masa lives in japan and has been into the hobby for years. If theres something specific you're looking for he can possibly find it for you. Otherwise he has a small shop set up on the site. his wife is always after him to get rid of some of his "stock" hehe gkjapan.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26

Just curious. How come most Japanese will not ship outside Japan? Actual legal reasons or they just don't want to?

a lot of japanese GKs end up being event only. which means they have a one day license to sell their figure. If they wanted to sell overseas they would have to dish out major $$$ to get a full license to the chars. most GK companies just dont make enough money to do that. It would be great if they sold overseas but unfortunately most don't. the only one I know of that does it regular is Reflect, and even then he is only allowed to sell the original char designs. His most recent piece was a char deisgn based off Rei Ayanami from Evangelion but the name was changed to Rei Anayami just to avoid the copyright issues. mitumasa.com/

those are still considered "anime" kits. there are a ton with that slightly realistic/anime cross to them. here's a list of a ton of different japanese sculptors for anyone that wants to check them out. gkjapan.com/showthread.php?t=325
