Hi all, just thought i'd post my latest creation, the Verlinden 120mm Navy Seal, this figure is no longer in production and was gifted too me in kit form by a close friend who was having a clear out of kits he'll never build. The figure is set in the delta region of Vietnam, the idea behind the small vignette is that this particular seal team when in on a snatch & grab mission to abduct a VC tax collector only the ran into a full company of NVA regular troops he decided to stick around a fight it out rather than melt into the jungle. The basic story is this; military intelligence has messed up and the brown smelly stuff has hit the fan, big time ! the discarded weapon on the ground announces that one of the team has been wounded ( although not visible in the vignette) and that the point man with his shot gun is laying down suppressing fire whilst the rest of the team extract the wounded too a small clearing waiting to be lifted out by helicopter. Meanwhile the VC are closing in real fast, as you can see by the 2 bullet holes in the tree truck and the empty ammo casings hint that the seal team are in a serious firefight with ammo running low. When the radio man was asked how close the enemy was, his reply "Right here, right F**king now baby!" (a quote from the book Phantom Warriors) Anyway judge for yourselves and tell me what you think!

Really nice job! I will add one correction though. As a guy that has had several CAR15's in his hands over the decades, the butt stock from the joint at the lower receiver to the rear is basically all black. Here is a site with a lot of technical information on weapons: world.guns.ru/assault/as50-e.htm ;D Dave Hall

I will bow too your knowledge on that matter sir, i've only used an M-16 when i was in Vietnam ( as a tourist, a few years ago and not as a soldier)
Since i took those pictures i have added a small amount of blood on the ground since the weapon is supposed to belong too a wounded comrade, there is also soome blood on the weapon as well. I tried to make a discarded bandage lying nearby but it didn't look too realistic for me so i scrapped it.
anyway i'm glad you liked it and thanks for the heads up on the CAR-15, when i make the next one, i'll try too remember the information yo uhave left here.
many thanks.

Wicked figure James!
I've always had a fascination with the Nam. Always wanted to build a diorama of grunts jumping out of a hovering Huey. Saw the figures a while backbut there wasnt a decent huey kit about.
Picked up two UH1C's 1:35th scale and now cant find the figures!!!!.
Good anatomy on the figure some of Vs other 120mm seem to have overlong arms. I have some built somewhere, they got squirrelled away during our last house move?? I Hope. ;D

I recently see a such diorama somewhere on some forum, when I can remember where, I'll put a link to the picture. This is something I do the past year, with a recycled Verlinded 54mm and a Hue tail from Revell. James, as usual I missed your 120mm, is really nice, above all the realism of the groundwork.

Wonder if this Joe is thinking, "Well, I made it." or "Man am I in for a long walk." Very well done.

That is good! I don't usually have much time for modern military figures ( not my period},but you 've done a great paint job on bothfigure and base. Soundchaser.
