This is the Clayburn Moore sculpt of Aspen Matthews as "Fathom," from the Top Cow comics, first released in the late 90s. It's in 6" action figure scale, about 1/13. This was my first attempt at repainting an action figure. It's a beautiful sculpt, really a lot more than you expect from this kind of figure, but I wanted to see if I could improve the paint scheme. Most action figures as pre-painted have a very monochromatic, Barbie-doll kind of look to their flesh areas, with no highlighting or shading. I began by gluing her limbs in place and filling and sanding the joints. Then I primed white right over her original paint (I did not bother with stripping it), airbrushed a base flesh color, and then went to work. Her original armor looked too bright to me, for such a watery character. So I went for a blue-green metallic combination which seemed better. The baby T-Rex is a Safari toy dino. The way her left hand was positioned, it looked like she needed a little animal friend. I didn't repaint the dino, just washed with several dark colors to make him a little less toy-like. I opted to leave off the weapon which could cover her right forearm. I had a lot of fun with this project and will be trying the same thing with some Witchblade figures, also by Clayburn Moore, in the near future.

great job on the fig.. the Moore figures are some nice sculpts..some are getting harder to get like the Vampirellas. I had a few of the test shot figures of Lady Death and Purgattori a while back..they were the Moore figures, but unpainted..wish I hadnt gotten rid of them.. but I think they go cheap on ebay.

Thanks! I appreciate it. Yes, most of the Moore action figures can be picked up on e-bay for less than $10. I've just bought two Sara Pezzini as Witchblade figures and also Medieval Witchblade.
