The Aurora Monster Scenes kits of the early 1970s are famous for causing such an uproar that they were banned within months after their release. They might have gotten away with Dr. Deadly and his lab, but when they threw in "The Victim," that was a bit too much, I suppose. I actually remember these kits ("The Pain Parlor," "Gruesome Goodies," etc) on the shelves of Woolworth's when I was a kid. I had some Aurora monsters, Dracula and so forth, but none from this line. I doubt if my Mom would have let me get them in the door! The Monster Scenes kits, due to their short production run, are highly collectible and rather expensive today. Fortunately for Aurora fans, a number of them have been re-done in resin by this company: www.retroresin.com/retroresinmodelkits_001.htmThis is a resin version of the Monster Scenes Vampirella that I picked up at Wonderfest this year. RetroResin packages her with a reproduction of the original box art: While the figure is pretty tame by today's standards, it definitely offered two things never before seen in a styrene plastic model kit: I'm sure the ban was speeded along by thoughts of what Vampirella might get up to with "The Victim." ;D Here's a few more shots of my finished work:

Yeah, it definitely shows its age...keep in mind this is based on a 1971 vintage styrene kit. Great for nostalgia, though!
