I've had this sitting on the shelf for 6 years. I think it was the first in a great series. I finally felt ready to paint her. You gotta love Mike Cusanelli's work. Jim

Gotta love your work too! Your flesh tones are fantastic! Can you give us your mixture?

I have to admit that the flesh in the close-up photos looks a bit more orange-ish than the actual color. I don't have a set formula. I use Poly Scale Railroad colors because they were the only acrylics the hobby shop carried that airbrushed well. Generally I use Rust and Milwakee RR Maroon for a base. Rust, SP Daylight Orange, Sand and a touch of Maroon for midtones. Then mostly Sand with a little midtone mix for highlights. I a bit concerned because a recent bottle of Rust I bought was significantly different than the previous one.

JJCap1, well, looking at your representation of that figure just makes me realise how far i have to go and how lacking in talent i am compared too that magnificent figure you have shown us....i wish i was at home working on my Karnstein... i feel out of it right now without the smell of paint and superglue.
as for your choice of paints, i think it was an excellent choice, after all you have to use what you ahve at hand and if they work well and don't cause to many problems for cleaning and your airbrush then go with them, that's what i say!
the one thing that you mention is the change in paint, i have had that happen too me several times in the past and i hate it.... why manufacturers have to change the mix rather than keep a good product going, one that people use and like beats me.
all in all, an excellently painted version of one of my favourite figures...well done mate, first class !

Phantom Major:
Thanks for the very kind words. Don't put sell yourself short. I couldn't have painted her this way when I got the kit. That's why she sat on the shelf for 6 years. Each kit you paint makes you better.

Very nice work i like the red hair the best, i also like flesh tones not to pale like most female vampires are painted a refreshing change.

Is that a model of the Flying Monkeys of Oz? Perfect! They terrified me when I was a kid. Where'd it come from? Thanks,
Mark

He does do great work. I've got a few of his pieces and Karnstein is my favorite subject of his.

What a tool, I posted it twice. Newbie! hey don't worry about posting the same thing twice you can always delete the extra post yourself or i cna do it for you... i took the liberty of spacing your pictures as it was a little rough on the eye having too keep scrolling across the screen. As for your work... WOW ! I love the Bust of Lady K... i have seen that on ebay at the moment but i'm still not sure about it... i think it's because she looks more sinister, with her teeth showing more compared too the full figures. I also like the one you did with her wearing a gloss black outfit... something i had been thinking about myself but i'll have to wait and see as i don't own that particular figure yet. As for the version of her sitting on the ground, i was greatly surpriced by the choice of the bright red outfit, it's nice too see someone break out fo the monochromatic colour scheme and try something daring. I too have this version which is sitting nearby as i type this but it's going to be a long time before i actually start on her. the wa things are going i think i'll need too add a new section too this site called " Karnstein's Korner "! excellent work mate, my hat's off to you !!!

Nicely done gordman1. Very clean. I agree with Phantom Major. It's nice to see different interpretations. Why wouldn't she have other clothes in the closet! They are beautiful kits.
