just a quick note too let you all know that i have now prime coated the main parts of this kit, excluding the female torso section. You can see in the picture below the coffin, her legs, the candlestick and the two supports for the coffin. The two supports have already been given their main coat and i'm planning too use oil washes to bring out the detail.

bloody disaster ! i painted the coffin in tamiya matt black, then decided to seal that in and give it some protection by spraying over it tamiya's clear gloss. This was a big mistake, the gloss paint didn't adhere to the matt coat very well and now i have had to sand it down again and start from scratch, all 3 layers of paint come off at the slightest touch !. the primer, the matt black and the clear gloss don't seem to be able to bond on to the resin ! i was hoping to finish the coffin and start of the figure this weekend but that now looks highly unlikely !

well here i am on my day off, steel wool in hand removing the old layers of paint too start again. So far i have removed the top and side sections of paint from th coffin. I planning on having lunch then going back too scour the rest, then i'll need to go over it with some fine grade wet and dry paper and then wash it in the sink too remove all the debris.
will up date later on, hopefully !

James i wish i had seen this post earlier, next time to strip the paint try some oven cleaner just spray it on and wait about 30 minutes, you can scrub it off with an old tooth brush, works great and it doesn't hurt the resin plus you don't have to sand when you are done, and rinse with clean water, you may have to apply it more than once, and wear rubber gloves.

Yes I have to agree with rv1963, Easy off over cleaner, they now make a brand that has no fumes.
What I do is spray it on and place in a zip loc bag and let it sit over night. It will not harm the resin at all the longer you leave it on, but really get into the cracks and small areas really good.
Where glasses and gloves to protect your eyes and hands, beasue this stuff will burn your skin and eyes
Rinse with warm water and Dawn detergent old tooth brush will remove all paint.
I would not use steal wool, as that would scratch the surface of the resin.

I use Castrol Super Clean. Let it soak for about an hour and the paint washes right off. I haven't had any problems with it yet.

James, What is the latest on this figure. I've been toying with buying it or the new Karnstein but can't decide which one!!! Both are too hot! oldbean, what caa i say, it's great figure it's just that i'm having a paint issue with it lol... seems tamiya black don't like the automotive grey car primer paint i usually use. generally though it's well cast with few problems, but there are a a few small air bubbles to deal with on the crest on the top section of the coffin but the actual figure has been cleanly done, not much filler was used there. I've actually finished painting the coffin now and will be completing the minor assembly work on it tomorrow (friday). wheni comes too the figure i can't really paint much more as i need to get a new airbrush...hopefully on this months pay lol if you are anyone else has any questions feel free to ask..cheers James

PM,
Time for an update on this one, huh? I need all the ideas and motivation I can get if I am ever going to break mine out of the box.
